Tete-A-Tete, 2022

Our beauty standards as a society are unrealistic. From a young age, we are constantly told and shown that we must look and act a certain way, in order to be considered conventionally attractive. I’ve been interested to explore why it is we compare and desire other people’s features, instead of appreciating our individuality. Why do we envy others?

‘Tete-A-Tete’ presents a world where one is able to control how they look, by purchasing different heads.

Our Reality is Happy, 2019

This documentary tells the story of Afshan and Sabah, two child workers in Pakistan who find joy and strength in their friendship despite the challenges of their daily lives.

In many underdeveloped countries, children are forced to work at a young age to support their families. Afshan and Sabah, working as domestic maids and caregivers for a wealthier family, are among them. Growing up in a privileged environment, I was largely unaware of the starkly different realities faced by children like them.

During a brief family visit to Lahore, Pakistan, I lived in the same household where these girls worked. I witnessed their tireless efforts, their daily routines, and the weight of their responsibilities. Yet, what struck me most was their resilience—they never saw themselves as victims. Instead, they smiled, laughed, and found joy amidst adversity.

Through this film, I hope to raise awareness of child labor while shedding light on the profound human capacity to find happiness, even in the darkest of circumstances.
